Military Council of the

National Government.

Dear Sir Geoffry,

Mr. Han Li-Wu has come. back to Chungking

from Hong Kong, carrying with him your letter of reply.

He has also reported to me in detail on the proceedings

of the Hong Kong University Special Committee, which he

attended while there, and particularly on the various

schemes of development, which were decided upon. I am

most pleased to know all about these.

The University of Hong Kong originally had very

close relationships with China; and if the various plans

could be carried out gradually, I am sure the future of

the University will be benefitted to a very great extent..

The special talents thus trained will meet a great need

of our country in her work of reconstruction.

In these lines I write to convey to you my

sincere support of your schemes and I wish you every

success.

Yours sincerely,

(CHIANG CHUNG-CHENG)

May 7th.
